About A Beacon of HOPE
A Beacon of Hope is a community resource & training center empowering youth Trinity Debt Management Services (TDMS) Founders, Carlton Dasher and Kerry Lynn Dasher, birthed as a Non-profit Trinity's Learning Resource Center in 2000.

Carlton is a U.S. NAVY Veteran having served our country for 8-1/2 years. He obtained his Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering (Memphis State University), and was nominated for Officer's Candidate School in 1985, prior to his service/medical discharge in 1986. Since 1977 Carl has served his community youth, and their families through coaching sports, church youth groups, and life skills enrichment programs abroad and at home.

Carlton and Kerry Lynn were married in April 1997, and are parents of six (6) children, nine (9) grandchildren as of to date, and are a blended family. Carl and Kerry Lynn understand the challenges many families face today, as Carl was raised by a single mother, and Kerry Lynn was raised by a divorced mother from the age of 2 years. Both Carl and Kerry Lynn have grown up and experienced the challenges of life without a father and a balanced family unit, yet by the grace and love of God manifested through other caring adults, they have grown past the hardships, hurts and wounds. Kerry Lynn, formerly a single mom herself, at the age of 19 years old, both worked and attended school full-time, which awarded her an Associates of Science degree as a Flight Attendant/Ticketing & Reservations with a minor in Business Administration, in planning for a career in the Airlines Industry. The birth of her son, diverted her career and became employed with Northrop Corporation, Pico Rivera, CA, and later in 1994, she completed and obtained her Bachelor's Degree of Science in Business Administration (University of Phoenix), with plans to pursue owning her own inspirational greeting cards business.

Because Carl and Kerry Lynn both understood, by personal experience, the hardships that go along with being raised by one parent including the financial pressures and challenges of single parenting, they know the great need that all youth have for loving, caring, and supportive mothers and fathers, and adult care givers. They understand the importance of a balanced environment that provides the love, encouragement, financial support and wise guidance in providing youth the platform to make wise life-giving and sustaining decisions. They have realized their purpose in giving themselves and their resources to these programs in order to serve the youth and families of our communities through a genuine sense of responsibility that is connected to purpose and destiny. And is their personal goal and passion for all who desire to fulfill purpose and destiny to learn the same through resulting from a revelation of true identity, purpose and destiny which can only be realized by personal pursuit of Truth, conviction of that Truth which reveals purpose, vision, and mission, which is motivated by a passion, ignited by known purpose. And through this platform and vehicle, together with community collaboration, partners and donors, inspire youth and families. By this  true Spirit of leadership, our community members are healed, restored and made whole (spirit, soul, and body by addressing the whole person), and where all family members are positioned purposefully and become vital contributors to the family and community.

In 1999, after a year of conducting a 45-minute, once a week class to elementary age students of New Life Education Christian Academy, in Montclair, CA, the Founders’ business information and gifts/talents perceived value skyrocketed. It became more evident to the Founders that financial habits, like all other habits, are passed down from one generation to the next, and it wasn’t just important to help individuals to manage their finances for "the American Dream" of Home Ownership, but more importantly, to make a positive change and impact in the lives of people; helping them and their children to become free from the cycle of debt and debt slavery, which affects family matters/relationships and their well-being.  The Founders knew they needed to reach children at a young age with the knowledge, skills, and tools to overcome generational habits and to plan for success, thus bringing hope and abundant life to our communities.

Trinity Debt Management Services (TDMS) was revisioned as Harvest Time Group, as together with other community businesses and members they are gathering in a good crop; a harvest of families by empowering them to prosper.

Trinity's Learning Resource Center was officially launched on  April 11, 2000 to provide basic life skills education, life planning and preparation, and financial literacy enrichment programs and after-school clubs for youth 8-21 years of age. The program services expanded to include Parent Coaching Workshops at the request of the parents needing help in parenting their youth, and Strategies for Living Financially Free Workshops for adults, providing practical and biblical life skills of stewardship.

Carl and Kerry Lynn personally funded the programs through TDMS until January 2005, when TLRC obtained its 501(c)(3) non-profit status and has been serving the southern California San Bernardino/Colton, CA region, in partnership with Trinity Debt Management Services and Urbita Elementary School/San Bernardino Unified School District/Pat King Principal.

The programs have been funded through Trinity Debt Management Services, community sponsorships, in-kind donations from community businesses, and various fundraising activities.  In 2007 TLRC expanded to the Phoenix/West Valley, AZ region and in partnership with Skyway Church of the West Valley and other community businesses and organizations. In 2011, TLRC received its first grants from Union Pacific Foundation and Wal-Mart Foundation.  With the support of like-hearted others and community businesses, the programs are provided.

In 2010, Raising Awareness and Taking Action (RATA) was introduced to our partners in an effort to meet emergency critical needs of families in partnership with the Strategies for Living Financially Free Workshops, in providing a hand up and not just a hand out. Learn more.

In 2014, the program vision expanded to include A Beacon of Hope ( A BOH) Community Center and Community Collaboration. And as of November 2018, Trinity's Learning Resource Center underwent a name change amendment to A Beacon of Hope Community Center (A Community Resource & Training Center).  Learn more.

In 2018, we shifted and our name changed to A Beacon of Hope Community Center.

In 2022, Carlton and Kerry Lynn, were both awarded Honorary Doctorate Degrees of Humanity from Higher Learning Bible Institute International / Seminary, Chesterfield, VA.
